Management taking payouts over the past five years is criminal.

FURP

2006 AA made 230 mil, yet paid out 175 mil to top managment.
2007 AA paid out 65 mil to top management
2008 AA pays out to top management this April 09'

and next year
and the next through 2013
But I just don't understand executive compensation bonuses

But AA just can't afford any pay increase for it's pilots.
But AA say's if AA pilots want to make more they should either go to executive school or fly more.

AA decides how many pilots are on reserve. Reserve pilots don't always fly a full month. This causes pilot's average yearly flight time averages to be lower.
I fly 74- 78 hours a month year round. I get 4 weeks vacation. I generally am sick 3 times a year missing one 3 day trip each time i'm sick. I know I fly more than 51 hours a month, which is what many would try to tell you.
And they tell you that because they want me to fly 92-95 hours a month.

American Beacon was producing 47 mil a year.

I believe the AA pilots have been saving AA 660 mil a year annually since May 2003.

I will admit, I got a profit sharing check last year. It was less than $400.

AA has not lowered it's pricing since fuel expenses went down. They have not rescinded bag fees.

Just throwing a little info out there.

It all depends on which set of books you look at... They'll run one Corp at a loss, while all the money is shifted through creative leases, or service contracts... the books you really want to see, aren't even in this country, and neither is it's bank account... nothing subject to federal oversight, or subject to federal subpoena. It's a shell game, that's all.

Already heard some AA flights not accepting direct and rather requesting to stay on flight plan route. Nice going. Let the chaos begin...

Must not be the commuting leg home, lol!

SebastianDesoto03-04-2009 07:32 PM

I have been considering putting in a base transfer that would depend largely on AA for commuting. Guess I better self that idea for a few months or hope the transfer doesn't go through until AA gets it stuff straightened out.

Yep there are a couple of airlines you'd better watch out for here in the next couple of months.

So WHY the decision for chaos and not a strike?

Wheels up03-05-2009 11:55 AM

Actually, I don't think they're calling it "CHAOS" as that term is owned by some other group. I think the new term is "ASH" alternate self-help.

As for the reasons behind a targeted disruption campaign vice a general strike, you don't want to lose control of the co*ckpit. If you walk out in mass you do. A series of smaller targeted strikes is much more difficult for management to deal with and can be modulated to increase or decrease the pressure on management.

Of course, once released to self-help, the company could just lock the pilots out, or impose a contract of their choosing. Of course, anyone working under that contract would be a strike breaker, so it's probably a moot point.

I don't think anything's going to happen anytime soon, and if it does, it'll probably be short-lived. Unless Mr. Obama can get the company-cozy NMB leadership, mediators, and arbitrators back to neutral bias, I doubt that the APA will EVER be able to get an impass declared.

So, bottom line is I wouldn't let that influence your decision to move or not.

Anyone notice that AMR closed at $2.55/share today? Market Cap under $1B and down 10-20% over the last three consecutive days. This dog of a stock keeps setting new 52wk lows like it is going out of style and the short interest is huge. The market DOES NOT think air travel is coming back anytime soon. :(
