Croton-on-Hudson is a village of 8,100 people (2019) in Westchester County, New York. In the first half of the 20th century, it was home to many artists, writers and communists.

- Westchester County Airport[dead link] (HPNIATA), 240 Airport Road, White Plains, +1 914 995-4860 (airlines). The closest airport, about 40 minutes drive. Rental cars are available.
- Stewart International Airport, (SWFIATA) 1180 First St, New Windsor, +1 845 564-2100. Another alternative to the congestion of the 3 major airports, but it offers few direct flights.
- Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, New Jersey, John F. Kennedy International Airport, and LaGuardia Airport: The three major international airports in the New York City area offer service to just about anywhere. Westchester-based taxi and livery cars offer regular service to and from the three internationals from most areas of the county. New York City yellow cabs will take to you Westchester in a pinch, but the fares can be exorbitant. Instead, ask if your hotel offers shuttle service.

Take 9A North or 9A South depending on where you are coming from. Then you can get off at the Senasqua exit, Croton Harmon Exit or the Cortlandt Manor exit

Express service between Croton-Harmon station, 4 Veteran's Plaza and 1 Croton Point Avenue, and New York City's Grand Central Terminal is about 50 minutes. A one-way ticket to or from Grand Central costs $11.25 off-peak and $14.75 peak. Local rail service is available between other Metro-North commuter stations. Full weekday and weekend schedules are available online. Taxis are usually available at the arrival of trains from New York City. On all Metro-North trains, on-board fares are subject to a stiff surcharge, so buy your tickets at the station or at the vending machines.

- Adirondack operating daily between Montreal and New York City including stops along the way in Saint-Lambert, Rouses Point, Plattsburgh, Westport, Ticonderoga, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, Albany (Rensselaer), Hudson, Rhinecliff, Poughkeepsie, Croton-on-Hudson, and Yonkers.
- Ethan Allen Express operating daily between Burlington and New York City including in Middlebury, Rutland, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, Albany (Rensselaer), Hudson, Rhinecliff, Poughkeepsie, Croton-on-Hudson, and Yonkers.
- Empire Service operating daily between Niagara Falls (New York) and New York City including stops in Buffalo, Buffalo (Depew), Rochester, Syracuse, Rome, Utica, Schenectady, Albany (Rensselaer), Hudson, Rhinecliff, Poughkeepsie, Croton-on-Hudson, and Yonkers. Additional daily trips operate between Albany (Rensselaer) and New York City.
- Maple Leaf train operating daily between Toronto and New York City, in partnership with VIA Rail Canada. Stops between Toronto and Niagara Falls (New York) include in Oakville, Burlington, Grimsby, St. Catharines, and Niagara Falls (Ontario). Stops between Niagara Falls (New York) and New York City are the same as those made by the Empire Service. Border crossing processing takes place in Niagara Falls, where passengers must detrain with their baggage. Train crew members are staffed by VIA Rail within Canada, and by Amtrak within the United States.
- Lake Shore Limited, operating daily between Chicago and Boston or New York City. It makes stops at most stations along the route, though it does not stop at some of the smallest stations. Trains consist of train cars from both branches between Chicago and Albany (Rensselaer). The trains split into separate branches between Albany (Rensselaer) and both Boston and New York City. Stops between Chicago and Albany (Rensselaer) include South Bend, Elkhart, Waterloo, Bryan, Toledo, Sandusky, Elyria, Cleveland, Erie, Buffalo (Depew), Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, and Schenectady. Stops between Albany (Rensselaer) and New York City include Rhinecliff, Poughkeepsie, and Croton-on-Hudson.

- 1 Van Cortlandt Manor, 555 S Riverside Ave, ☏ +1 914 271-8981. Stone manor house and outbuildings date to the Dutch colonial era. This living history museum interprets Hudson Valley life in the years immediately after the American Revolution.

- 1 Old Croton Aqueduct. Go hiking or biking on the aqueduct's trailway. The original water supply to New York City is now a walking trail that runs from Croton-on-Hudson in the north to Yonkers in the south. Over the 180 years since it was built portions have disappeared from the downtown areas of several river towns, so a map can be helpful. - Go to Teatown Nature Reservation at 1600 Spring Valley Road, +1 914 760-2912, They have a kid-friendly nature center there with many East Coast animals on display. They also have 13 hiking trails.

- Croton Point Park hosts Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival, a yearly folk music, art and environmental festival.
- Summerfest. Every year the central business district (with corners at the municipal building, Grand Street fire house and Croton-Harmon High School) is closed to automobile traffic for music, American food, local fundraisers, and traveling and local artists.
- Every weekend in October, people visit Van Cortlandt Manor to see the Blaze. Started in 2005, the Blaze consists of thousands of pumpkins which are hollowed out by volunteers but carved by a creative team.

The Cortlandt Town Center (formerly known as the Westchester Mall) is a large retail power center in the town of Cortlandt, New York. It is a predominantly outdoor shopping center. Anchor stores include Wal-Mart, The Home Depot, Best Buy, A&P, Barnes & Noble, Office Max, PetSmart, Old Navy, Marshall's and Modell's.
